Topical Wound Oxygen

Your Healing Comes First
TWO2® therapy provides targeted wound treatment through cyclical, pressurized oxygen applied directly at the wound site. Patients can self-administer the therapy at home in a convenient and comfortable setting. Following a physician’s prescription, a NewCuraMedical representative delivers the device and offers thorough training on its use. Ongoing support is always available through our clinical specialists and customer service team.
Reduction in hospitalizations (88%)
Real-world evidence shows patients treated with TWO₂ experienced an 88% reduction in hospitalizations versus no TWO₂. Fewer admissions mean lower costs, fewer complications, and more time healing at home.
Reduction in amputations (71%)
In real-world studies, TWO₂ therapy was associated with a 71% reduction in amputations for chronic wounds such as DFU and VLUs. Faster, more complete healing helps avoid escalation to surgical interventions.
6× more likely to heal in 12 weeks + lower recurrence at 12 months
A randomized controlled trial found wounds treated with TWO₂ were six times more likely to heal within 12 weeks. Patients also showed lower recurrence at 12 months, supporting durable, long-term outcomes.

What to Expect
Diabetic Foot Ulcers (DFUs)
Clinical studies show patients using TWO2® were
6× more likely to heal within 12 weeks and
6× less likely to recur at 12 months.

Hospitalizations & Amputations
Real-world use of TWO2® was associated with an
88% reduction in hospitalizations and a

Topical Oxygen Therapy
High-pressure oxygen that restarts stalled wounds.
Concentrated oxygen delivered right at the wound surface helps chronic wounds move beyond the inflammatory phase. In combination with gentle cyclical compression and a humid healing chamber, it supports bacterial control, micro-vessel growth and stronger collagen—across hospital, step-down and home settings.

Amplifies
Raising tissue oxygen tension energizes neutrophils and other leukocytes, improving bacterial kill and enhancing the effectiveness of concurrent antibiotics. Higher oxygen levels are directly hostile to many anaerobes—reducing bioburden and helping the wound bed recover.

Stimulates
Oxygen up-regulates pro-angiogenic signals such as VEGF so new capillaries sprout and perfusion returns. Reactive oxygen species act as physiologic messengers that enable growth-factor activity (e.g., TGF-β, PDGF), accelerating granulation from the base.

Promotes
Improved oxygen availability supports triple-helix collagen formation and cross-linking for better tensile strength and healthy histology. The result is orderly remodeling with minimal scarring or callus—and a lower risk of recurrence.
Oxygen (O₂)
High-pressure topical oxygen restarts stalled wound metabolism, aids bioburden control, and builds sturdy granulation—helping wounds close faster and stay closed.
Compression
Contact-free rhythmic compression limits edema and improves lymphatic/venous return—boosting micro-circulation and oxygen diffusion. Compatible with CCD, UNNA, and over TCC for DFU care.
Humidification (H₂O)
A fine, consistent mist maintains the ideal moisture balance for cellular activity. It protects viable tissue, supports autolytic debridement, and helps dressings perform predictably for comfortable healing.

Reimbursement Summary
In the United States, topical oxygen therapy is reimbursed within the Veterans Health Administration under a Federal Supply Schedule contract and is also utilized by other federal agencies. In addition, topical oxygen has reimbursement pathways in New York and several other state Medicaid programs.
Environmental Impact
By producing more durable healing, topical oxygen reduces repeat hospitalizations and the need for amputations in hard-to-heal wounds. Fewer procedures and disposables mean less treatment-related waste—modeled estimates suggest waste can drop several-fold (≈5.5×) when a diabetic foot ulcer patient avoids an amputation.
